Every hand costs five play credits. The displayed full-pay reference table already shows the total five-credit payout, so a Pair of Nines or Better pays 10 credits, not 50.

What the trainer models
This free Pickem Poker trainer models the historical two-stack decision: two fixed cards on the left, one visible choice card on each side, and two hidden cards under each choice. Four cards are visible before the decision, 48 cards remain unseen, and you choose before the hidden cards are revealed.
For study, the trainer evaluates all 1,128 legal two-card completion pairs for each side. You do not need to do that arithmetic while playing; use it to see why close-looking choices can have different expected values.
Why both sides are shown after the choice
A live casino game may reveal only the selected side. This trainer reveals both completed sides after selection so you can compare the decision with the result. That later reveal was not information you had before choosing.
A lower-EV choice can happen to receive a better final payout on one hand, and a higher-EV choice can miss. That does not make the lower-EV choice the correct prior decision.
How to read the result screen
The result screen marks your choice, labels the side as Higher EV, Lower EV, or Equal EV, names each completed hand, shows the exact EV in credits per five-credit wager, shows the actual payout, and offers Deal Next Hand.
Expected payout is the long-run value of the decision before the hidden cards are known. Actual payout is what this one completed hand returned. Strategy quality is about the pre-reveal decision, not whether a single result happened to pay.
How to practice
- Classify both partial holdings before clicking.
- Make a mental choice first.
- Use the EV hint only after thinking.
- Select a side and review both completed outcomes.
- Study mistakes with the strategy guide.
- Keep notes only on decisions that were difficult or surprising.

Five-credit practice accounting
Each practice hand deducts five fictional credits. The gross paytable payout is then credited back. A Pair of Nines or Better returns 10 credits, for a net result of +5; a nonpaying hand returns 0, for a net result of -5.
